Knowledge Base: How do i enable Javascript in my browser?


Introduction

Javascript is a programming language which allows a web-page to perform various interactive actions such as animations, alerts and saving and loading data.

Javascript is required in order to use the LabelEd administration area (See Compatibility).

All modern browsers ship with Javascript support enabled by default, however some users choose to disable it, or use addons such as NoScript in Firefox to stop scripts from running.

How do i know if Javascript is enabled?

Simply go to your website administration area. If you don't have Javascript enabled you will receive an error message and be asked to enable it.

If your control panel works then congratulations, Javascript is already enabled and working in your web browser.

How do i enable Javascript?

Internet Explorer

  1. Click the Tools menu.
  2. Select Internet Options.
  3. Click the Security tab.
  4. Click the Custom Level button.
  5. Scroll down until you see the 'Scripting' section. Select the 'Enable' radio button for 'Active Scripting.'
  6. Click the OK button.
  7. Click the Yes button in the confirmation window.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Click the Tools menu.
  2. Select Options.
  3. Click the Contents tab.
  4. Select the 'Enable JavaScript' checkbox.
  5. Click the OK button.

Opera

  1. Click the Tools menu.
  2. Go down to the Quick Preferences submenu.
  3. Select Enable Javascript.

Safari

  1. Click the Safari menu.
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. Click the Security tab.
  4. Select the 'Enable JavaScript' checkbox.

What Web Browser am i using?

If you're not sure what web browser you are using, you can usually tell from the Window Title of the application.

If you're still not sure, try the following steps:

  1. Click the Help menu.
  2. Select About.
  3. A panel should appear, telling you version information about your browser.
